Erin Catey grew up in a small rural community in Indiana, an experience that helped shape her practical, down-to-earth approach to helping clients. She is the Managing Partner of Catey & Maguire Law and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, and she has devoted much of her practice to helping individuals and families through divorce, paternity, time-sharing, temporary custody, stepparent adoptions, and child support matters.
Erin represents clients in contested and uncontested divorce, parenting plan and time-sharing disputes, child support, relocation and post-judgment modification. A substantial part of her practice is preparing clients for mediation and representing them there, where most family cases in Pasco County are resolved.
Her mediator certification shapes how she practices. Having sat in the neutral chair, she knows what an agreement needs to say to be enforceable and what a judge is likely to do with the issues that do not settle, and she tells clients both before they decide how to proceed.
Erin also offers private mediation services to family law litigants, and pre-suit mediation for people representing themselves.
Erin earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, with a minor in Organization and Leadership Supervision, from Purdue University. In 2009 she graduated cum laude from Barry University School of Law, where she participated in several legal societies and graded onto the Barry Law Review, serving as a Note and Comment Editor and a member of the Editorial Board. She also served as a Certified Legal Intern with the Barry University Children and Families Legal Clinic, representing juveniles in dependency and delinquency proceedings.
Erin clerked for the Honorable Lawrence Kirkwood in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Probate Division, where she used her legal research and writing skills to develop a self-help packet for prospective Guardian Advocates. During law school she was also awarded a BACE Fellowship with Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida. In that role she helped clients with limited resources obtain public benefits and services, and advocated for them before the Social Security Administration and the Veterans Affairs Board.
After earning her J.D., Erin worked for an Orlando-based law firm focusing on health care and administrative law. She relocated to the Tampa Bay area in 2010 and has since devoted much of her practice to helping individuals and families navigate divorce, paternity, time-sharing, temporary custody, stepparent adoptions, and child support establishment and modification matters.
Today, Erin serves as Managing Partner of Catey & Maguire Law, where her detail-oriented approach is especially valuable in drafting, settlement discussions and client support. She helps keep each matter moving toward a resolution and works closely with the firm’s attorneys and staff, giving clients the benefit of the entire team’s knowledge, perspective and support. Through this collaborative approach, the firm can thoughtfully align its resources with each client’s needs while providing clear communication and steady guidance every step of the way.
Outside the office, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband, Jerrod, weightlifting, traveling, boating, and discovering new restaurants as she works her way through the Tampa Bay Times Top 50 Restaurants list.
She is a leadership team member of the Business Network International Revenue Source chapter, and a member of the West Pasco Bar Association, the Clearwater Bar Association, the Florida Bar Family Law Committee and Women Lawyers of Pasco. She served as Treasurer of the Clearwater Bar Association board of directors from 2021 through 2026.
